For now, staying at home is the best-known way to avoid catching the new coronavirus for most of the population. It is incumbent upon us to follow the government’s instruction – a legal order – to stay home and save lives, and our NHS.

Dusk chorus during the lockdown


The humans are indoors. Sometimes they come out, but they keep to themselves. The world doesn’t miss them.

The air is cleaner. The noise of traffic, planes and trains abated. The hustle and bustle depleted. The birds are singing. The night sky is bright. Venus is beaming. 

Maybe we’re doing something right.
