Refugees. Is it them versus us?

Our poor and disadvantaged and those struggling to make ends meet – many in Britain think they should be helped rather than refugees.

You and human rights

Let’s get this straight: Human rights legislation is all about protecting ordinary citizens from excesses of the state – in other words, OUR GOVERNMENT.

Refugees are innocent

Last November, 27 people died trying to make the treacherous journey in a small boat across the English Channel to reach our shores. Among them were one pregnant woman and three children.

The photo that alerted the world

This is a photo shot on the streets of Munich, Germany on 10th March 1933; just six weeks after Hitler came to power.  The picture, published across the world and later in many history books, was a chilling portent of the hellish events that were about to consume Germany and much of the rest of the planet.  Many have seen this photo, but few know the background behind it.

My top ten Facebook stories of 2015

My new Facebook page, Jon Danzig Writes, was started in June 2015, with the aim to challenge the news generally, and in particular, mistruths about migrants, refugees, human rights and the European Union.

My first few stories only gained a handful of readers, but over the past six months, my readership has gradually grown, with many of my stories now reaching tens of thousands of people.

UK SOS! Our human rights are under attack

THE NEW CONSERVATIVE GOVERNMENT:

'Among Michael Gove's first tasks will be to scrap Labour's Human Rights Act' - The Telegraph

Michael Gove has been appointed 'Justice Secretary' and 'Lord Chancellor' to see through the new Conservative government's manifesto pledge to scrap the Human Rights Act; introduce a new UK Bill of Rights, and sever links with the European Court of Human Rights.

Law Society president Andrew Caplen responded yesterday:
'The Human Rights Act is a fundamental safeguard of many of our basic rights and freedoms.  We will be pressing for the government to retain it.'

Human Rights: What Are They?

This is a simplified version of the 30 Articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

After the appalling atrocities of the Second World War, the United Nations came into existence.  One of their first tasks was the creation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.  It’s been translated into more languages than any other document.  Unfortunately, however, the principles of ‘human rights’ have yet to be translated into reality for most of the world’s 7 billion people.  Without enforcement, a ‘right’ is just a word.

Why we must never abandon human rights

This morning I saw for the first time a short 1950's French documentary screened at ‘The Cinema and Human Rights' film festival at Birkbeck University, London.

‘Night and Fog’ is shocking, harrowing and true.  It reveals a gnawing glimpse of the horror of the Holocaust.  This film needs to be seen, preserved and re-shown to every future generation, so that we never forget.
